Marvin Winans, born Marvin Lawrence Winans on March 5, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American singer, pastor, producer and actor, best known for his central role in contemporary gospel music. A member of the famous Winans musical family, he is one of ten children of David and Delores Winans, both respected figures in gospel music. Marvin made his debut in the 1980s as a member of the duo The Winans, formed with his brother Carvin and later joined by their brothers Ronald and Michael, becoming one of the leading groups in modern gospel music with acclaimed albums such as Introducing the Winans (1981) and Let My People Go (1985). Their style blended traditional vocal harmony with soul and R&B influences, earning them several Grammy Awards and recognition beyond their religious audience. In 1989, in parallel with his musical career, Marvin Winans founded The Perfecting Church in Detroit, where he serves as senior pastor and develops an important ministerial activity. He also pursues a solo career, marked by the album Alone but Not Alone (2007), hailed for its refined production and spiritual fervor, followed by The Praise & Worship Experience (2012). Known for his expressive tenor voice and stage charisma, Marvin Winans has also appeared at several major cultural and religious events, including Whitney Houston's funeral in 2012, where he officiated and sang. In addition to members of his family, he has collaborated with a number of artists from the gospel and other scenes, including Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Stevie Wonder, AndraƩ Couch, Israel & New Breed, Jonathan McReynolds and, in 2025, on Justin Bieber's album Swag, where he performed a duet on the track "Forgiveness" .
