Martha Wash

Martha Walsh (b. San Francisco, December 28, 1953), best known for her work with The Weather Girls ("It's Raining Men"), got her start as a backing vocalist for singer Sylvester during the disco era. Gifted with a powerful voice, she joined forces with Izora Rhodes Armstead to form the duo The Weather Girls, which she left in 1988 to embark on a career in house and R&B. Her debut album of the same name, released in 1993, featured the hits "Carry On" and "Give It to You", and her numerous collaborations with Seduction, Black Box, C+C Music Factory, Jocelyn Brown, Tony Moran, The First Ladies of Disco, RuPaul and Showtek, before becoming DJ Todd Terry's regular vocalist. She recorded two further albums, Something Good (2013) and Love & Conflict (2020), as well as several isolated singles.
