Mariachi Los Camperos

Mariachi los Camperos de Nati Cano are a Latin mariachi band formed in Los Angeles in 1960 by Mexican vihuela player and bandleader Natividad 'Nati' Cano, who died aged 81 in October 2014. The ensemble continued, led by violinist and trumpet player Jesus 'Chuy' Guzman with a line-up that includes guitarrón player Juan Jiminez, harpist Sergio Alonson and singer and violinist Raul Cuellar. They performed across America and released their first album, 'Puro Mariachi' in 1961 followed by 'North of the Border' (1965), 'El Super Mariachi, Los Camperos' (1968) and 'Vaises de Amor' (1973). In 1987, they featured on Linda Ronstadt's Grammy Award-winning mariachi album, 'Canciones de Mi Padre' and also appeared on her 1991 sequel, 'Mas Canciones'. Other releases include 'Sounds of Mariachi' (1996), 'Fiesta Navidad' (1997), 'Viva el Mariachi' (2003) and 'Llegaron Los Camperos!', which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican American Album in 2006. Their 2008 release, 'Amor, Dolor y Lágrimas: Música Ranchera' won the award and they were nominated again in 2015 for 'Tradición, Arte y Pasión' and 2020 for 'De Ayer Para Siempre'. Their 2020 schedule was to include an appearance at Purchase College in Westchester County, New York.
