MarÃa Daniela y Su Sonido Lasser (also known as MDYSSL) is a Mexican electro pop duo consisting of producer Emilio Acevedo and singer MarÃa Daniela Azpiazu. The group came together in 2001 when Acevedo, who was already releasing music under the names Titán and Sonido Lasser Drakar, invited Azpiazu to join the project. They made their debut in 2003 with a cover of AerolÃneas Federales' "No Me Beses en los Labios" while also recording the song "Súper Vacaciones" for the soundtrack of the Gibran Asuad film, Coapa Heights. After signing to the Nuevos Ricos label and touring the US and Europe, the pair rose to prominence in the Mexican club scene thanks to the track "Miedo," included in their 2005 eponymous studio debut. The album enjoyed great popularity among teenage audiences, spawning the hit singles "Chicle de Menta" and the Rigo Tovar cover "Carita de Ãngel." This success was followed by appearances at numerous festivals throughout Latin America and by the release of the song "Me Provoca," the opening song to the 2006 reality show El Bar Provoca, which received heavy airplay on local radios. Over the next few years, MarÃa Daniela y Su Sonido Lasser continued pairing infectious melodies with hard-hitting dance beats on albums such as Juventud en Ãxtasis (2007), Baila Duro! (2010), and Vol. Súbele (2015). During this time, Azpiazu participated in the reality show Lucky Ladies, helping raise the duo's public profile. Subsequent singles like the Paradisio cover "Bailando" (2019), "Puerta Dimensional" (2020), and "Mosca Muerta" (2022) established MarÃa Daniela y Su Sonido Lasser as one of Mexico's most popular and longest-running electro pop outfits.
