Manolo Galván

Born Manuel José Galván Vilches on March 13, 1947 in Crevillent, Spain, Manolo Galván launched his music journey at 15 by joining Madrid bands like Sonors and Málaga’s Los Gritos before embarking on a solo career in 1970. His heartfelt ballads—such as “¿Por qué te quiero tanto?” (1972), which resonated across Spain and Argentina—helped him settle in Buenos Aires by 1981, where he continued crafting emotionally resonant tracks. He released influential albums throughout the 1970s including Mis inquietudes (1972), Te quise, te quiero y te querré (1974), Esperando el amanecer (1977), and Ámame (1981), blending Spanish pop with Latin romanticism. Frequently invited to festivals like Viña del Mar and collaborative with Argentine vocalist Tormenta, his repertoire expanded with romantic staples including “Poema del alma,” “Deja de llorar,” “Te quise, te quiero y te querré,” “Suspiros de amante,” and “Un caballo azul.” His career spanned more than 40 albums, including later compilations like Alumbra alumbrando (2003) and Clásicos inolvidables: Años 50 (2004). Celebrated for his sincere lyrics and warm melodies, he formally retired in 2006 and passed away on May 16, 2013 in Bella Vista, Argentina, at age 66, leaving behind a legacy of timeless romantic songs cherished across the Spanish-speaking world.
