Manel, a Catalan pop group from Barcelona, was formed by Guillem Gisbert, Arnau Vallvé, Martà Maymó, and Roger Padilla. They gained recognition as finalists in the Sona9 contest in 2007, winning the Premi Joventut prize to fund their debut album. In 2008, Manel released Els millors professors europeus, which won several awards including best pop-rock album of the year from Enderrock and was certified gold with over 30,000 copies sold. Their subsequent albums, 10 milles per veure una bona armadura (2011), Atletes, baixin de l'escenari (2013), and Jo competeixo (2016) all reached Number One on the Spanish charts. Notable songs include "Dona estrangera" and "Sabotatge". In 2019, they released Per la bona gent, featuring collaborations with artists like Jaume Sisa. Manel's music blends pop with folk elements.
