Malaysia Vasudevan

Malaysia Vasudevan, something known as Vasudevan or Sathu Arumugam Nair was born on June 15, 1944, in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia, was a renowned Tamil playback singer and actor. Despite his Malayali roots, with parents hailing from Palakkad, he was immersed in Tamil culture from a young age, which influenced his linguistic and cultural identity. He moved to Chennai to pursue a career in the Kollywood film industry, achieving fame with his versatile singing talent, which spanned over 8,000 songs in his three-decade career. He notably worked with celebrated composers like Ilaiyaraaja, M. S. Viswanathan, and A. R. Rahman, contributing significantly to Tamil cinema and music. His acting career also flourished with appearances in nearly 85 films. Vasudevan's impact on the industry was so profound that his voice was recently revived using AI for a song titled 'Manasilaayo' in the 2024 film Vettaiyan. He passed away on February 20, 2011, leaving behind a legacy that continued to influence and inspire.
