Major League DJz is a South African DJ and producer duo made up of twin brothers Banele and Bandile Mbere. Born in the USA but raised in Johannesburg, they are now considered major figures on the amapiano scene, a South African musical genre blending deep house, jazz and traditional sounds. In their early days, Major League DJz were best known for their hip-hop events in Johannesburg. But in the late 2010s, they made a decisive shift towards amapiano, helping to popularize it worldwide with their energetic mixes and innovative productions. In particular, they are famous for their Balcony Mix Africa series, open-air DJ sets that have gone viral on the Internet. Thanks to these performances, they have been instrumental in exporting amapiano beyond South Africa's borders. The two DJs have also collaborated with leading artists such as Focalistic, Kabza De Small, Tyler ICU and Abidoza, as well as international artists such as Major Lazer, Tems and Dope Saint Jude. To their credit are the albums Pianochella! and What's the Levol with DJ and producer Abidoza in 2020, the EP Amapiano Effect with Tyler ICU and Thabzin SA the same year and, with Major Lazer, the album Piano Republik from 2023, with a remix EP. In 2024, he agrees with rapper Wiz Khalifa on the single "Mine for the Night", followed by the hit "Come with Me" in 2025.
