Mahmoud Abdulaziz, born on October 16, 1967, in Khartoum, Sudan, was a singer-songwriter known for his blend of modern urban music from Sudan and Western pop influences. He recorded more than 30 albums, widely available in Sudan on cassette tapes or bootleg CDs. Despite facing censorship due to Sharia-inspired Public Order Laws, Abdulaziz continued to perform in Sudan, becoming a symbol for those advocating for a more secular society. His music gained significant popularity, with several YouTube videos surpassing one million views. Abdulaziz passed away on January 17, 2013, in Amman, Jordan.
