Mac Salvador Ramos Llamoca was born on May 18, 1973 in Nazca, Peru, where his childhood in a large, artistically inclined but economically humble family, alongside periods of hardship including living on the streets at a young age, shaped his early path into music. At age 16, he launched his artistic journey with his debut single “Yo… el loco” (1989), marking the beginning of a prolific career in Andean music. Over the years he became celebrated for songs such as “Isabel,” “Sandy,” and “Hijos de la calle,” expanding his sound by blending Andean traditions with criolla, Afro-Peruvian, and zapateo influences. In 2004, he released socially resonant singles like “Queremos un cambio” and “Sistema de mierda,” reflecting political dissent. He reached broader acclaim with albums including Hijos de la calle (2001), Bien, éste… (2016), and multiple versions of Yo… (2010 and 2017). His innovative fusion culminated in his 2024 album Flamenco – Andino, showcasing a mature blend of flamenco and Andean styles. Alongside recording, Mac Salvador has toured internationally since 2011—including performances in Japan—and in 2016 led the Mac Fónico tour with the classical group Sinfonía por el Perú, later joined by the National Symphony. In 2022, he headlined a major concert at Lima’s Teatro Plaza Norte and continued international touring. Throughout his career, Mac Salvador has collaborated with notable figures in Andean music, such as Max Castro, Antología, and William Luna, establishing himself as a philosophical, genre-defying figure in contemporary Andean music.
