Quebec singer-songwriter Lynda Lemay was born in Portneuf on July 25, 1966, and is renowned for the quality of her lyrics and her sense of humor. A singer-songwriter and guitarist, she has a strong personality as a lyricist, with a sensitive and original universe. To a certain extent, she is part of the new French-language chanson movement. From Nos Rêves (1990) to Ma Signature (2006), she has established a style all her own, and has won two Félix awards at the ADISQ Gala: best female performer in 1998, and most successful Quebec artist outside Quebec in 2000. The 2010s saw her reach extend to French audiences. After the folk opera Un Ãternel Hiver (2006), its successor Allô C'est Moi (2008) and the live recording Blessée (2010), the studio albums Feutres et Pastels (2013) and Décibels et des Silences (2016) met with a large audience, enabling the singer with the typical accent to perform at the Olympia in Paris for the sixtieth time, a record for a foreign artist. Made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres on the same stage in 2012, Lynda Lemay marked a family break and made her comeback in 2019 with the album Il Ãtait Onze Fois and the show La Vie Est Un Conte de Fous, followed by three other recordings released soon afterwards: Des Milliers de Plumes (2020), à la Croisée des Humains and De la Rosée dans les Yeux (released simultaneously in 2021). The year 2023 sees the release of six albums: Il N'y A Qu'un Pas in January, Entre la Flamme et la Suie (Amours et Patterns) in February, Critiquement Incorrecte (Mauvais Goût et Maux Vécus) and Des Bordées de Mots in June, Entre le Rêve et le Souvenir (Chansons de Mes Débuts) and Le Baiser de l'Horizon in November. In 2026, she collaborated with guitarist Jean-Félix Lalanne on the album à Fleur de Cordes.
