Guadalupe Contreras Ramos, known professionally as Lupita D'Alessio, was born on March 10, 1954, in Mexico. She started her career with her father Poncho D'Alessio's musical show La Familia D'Alessio and achieved a breakthrough in 1971 with the single "Mi Corazón es un Gitano", which won the Sanremo Music Festival. D'Alessio performed the theme song for the telenovela Mundo de juguete and was cast in various productions throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1978, she won the Mexican national final to select the country's entrant for the OTI Festival with "Como tú" (Just like you), securing third place. Her notable albums include Mudanzas Vol. 1 (2001) and Lupita D'Alessio (2003). For her contributions to television and music, D'Alessio has her handprints and star embedded on the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico City.
