Los Rancheros de Plata

Los Rancheros de Plata are a cumbia ranchera group from Mulchén (Bío-Bío, Chile) formed in 2005 by four core members—Guillermo Marín, Ricardo Gómez, Rodrigo Mendoza, and Oliver San Martín—who set up a full live band around accordion, guitar, keyboards, and drums and began circulating their music across the south–central dance circuit. After a self-released first disc in 2006 (Sin Frontera), the group cut their breakthrough studio production Signo Libra in 2008 with Tekyla Records, whose title track quickly became their calling card at festivals, municipal stages, and parties. The following year they documented their stage show with a first live DVD, beginning a long relationship with the Zona Ranchera camp; the concert take of “El Signo Libra (En Vivo)” has since become a staple of the Chilean cumbia ranchera genre. Through the 2010s the catalog grew around live and anthology releases that kept signature numbers—“Hasta que llegue el alba,” “Cobarde,” “Te amo y te amaré,” and “La chiquilla de Mulchén”—in rotation, with streaming editions such as Princesita Mía (2017) and Mejores Que Nunca (2018) bringing the repertoire onto streaming platforms. The band refreshed their greatest-hits set in the streaming era with DJ-friendly bundles like “Fiesta Mix Los Rancheros de Plata” (2020) and later compilations, while 2024's Historias de un Romance Ranchero and fresh uploads of “Signo Libra” kept the classic material in front of new listeners. Subsequent releases included “Madre Mía” and Amor de primavera in 2025—plus ongoing live dates across Chile's south and central regions.
