Los del Fuego

Los del Fuego was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 4 May 1984 by vocalist Juan Carlos Mascheroni, guitarist Julio “Momocho” Peralta, bassist Julio “Muerto” Peralta, and timbalero Sergio Ricardo “El Pato” Torres. The group’s early background was rooted in cumbia santafesina, with Mascheroni previously recording two albums with Los del Bohío in 1982 and 1983. Their breakthrough came with the 1984 debut album Hay Que Luchar para Seguir, which established their presence in the Argentine cumbia scene. Over the next decade, Los del Fuego released a steady stream of albums-Que No Se Rompa la Noche (1985), Sobreviviendo (1986), Bebe en Mi Cántaro (1987), Razón de Vivir (1987), Coraje! Coraje! (1988), Una Sobredosis de Amor (1989), and Ardiendo (1990)-and performed extensively across the country, including a notable 2012 Luna Park appearance. The lineup fluctuated, with the Morro brothers and other musicians joining and leaving, but Mascheroni remained the band’s frontman. In 2019, Mascheroni suffered a fatal cardiac arrest during a private show, leading to the posthumous digital release Por Siempre (2019). The group continued with new vocalist Cristian Ramírez, releasing new material such as Vamos a Seguir… (2020) and maintaining their legacy in Argentine cumbia.
