Los Chichos

Los Chichos, a Spanish band formed in 1973 by singer-songwriter Juan Antonio Jiménez Muñoz ("Jero") and brothers Julio and Emilio González, originated from Madrid. Their breakthrough came with early singles released under Philips Records, including the hit "Quiero ser libre" written by a 19-year-old Jero during a brief jail sentence. Los Chichos became pioneers of the rumba flamenca music movement, combining flamenco and rumba with the fandango and pop. The group achieved significant success in the 1980s with the album Bailarás con alegría and released the soundtrack for the movie Yo, El Vaquilla in 1985. Jero departed the band in 1990. After restructuring with Emilio's son Junior in 1991, Los Chichos continued releasing albums such as Cabibi (2002) and El Amor deja sentencia (2009). The group released Ladrón de Amores in 2001, which achieved gold certification. Jero committed suicide in 1995.
