Lole y Manuel

Lole y Manuel, a flamenco duo formed in 1972, consisted of Dolores Montoya Rodríguez and Manuel Molina Jiménez. Born into artistic gypsy families in Andalusia, Spain, they began performing together in 1973. Their breakthrough came with the release of Nuevo Día (1975), which became a critical and commercial success despite an initial lack of promotion. The album introduced innovative elements like mellotron and folk influences into flamenco. Subsequent releases included Pasaje del Agua (1976) and Lole y Manuel (1977). After a hiatus, they returned with Al Alba con Alegría (1980) and Casta (1984). They reunited in 1992 to release a symphonic tribute to Manuel de Falla, and later released Alba Molina (1994), concluding with the live album Una Voz y una Guitarra (1995). Their music has been featured in films such as Manuela (1976) and Kill Bill: Volumen 2 (2004). Manuel Molina passed away in 2015.
