Little Big Town

Composed of Georgia-born singers Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, Arkansas-born guitarist Jimi Westbrook, and Alabama-born Philip Sweet, the band Little Big Town settled in Nashville in 1998, where they signed an initial, short-lived recording contract with Mercury, followed by Monument, which released their self-titled debut album in 2002. Three years later, the Equity Music Group signed the quartet. From then on, success came easily to Little Big Town, who scored their first hit with the song “Boondocks” (No. 9 on the country charts), followed by “Bring It on Home” (No. 4 on the country charts), both from the album The Road to Here (2006). After the release of A Place to Land (2007), Little Big Town signed with Capitol and scored their first No. 1 country hit with their next album, The Reason Why (2010), followed by the platinum-certified albums Tornado (2012, No. 1) and Pain Killer (2014, No. 3). The hits kept coming, and the group worked with Pharrell Williams on the production of Wanderlust (2016), which was met with a lukewarm reception from the country audience. Returning to their usual country-pop style, Little Big Town found success again with The Breaker (2017, No. 1 on the country charts) and received their third Grammy Award for Best Country Group. In 2020, they released Nightfall, their fourth No. 1 album on the country charts. The rest of the decade saw Little Big Town continue to strike a balance between contemporary country, vocal harmonies, and collaborations. In 2022, the quartet released Mr. Sun, their tenth studio album, driven in particular by “Hell Yeah” and “Rich Man”; the album entered the top 10 on the U.S. country charts. That same year, the group shared the Bandwagon tour with Miranda Lambert, accompanied the Eagles on their European dates, and made occasional appearances on the Judds’ farewell tour. In 2024, Little Big Town celebrated 25 years in the business with its first retrospective compilation, Greatest Hits, which included new collaborations with Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sugarland. Sugarland also joined them on the “Take Me Home” tour, while the band released its first Christmas album, The Christmas Record, produced by Dave Cobb, and hosted the special Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry on NBC. In 2025, Little Big Town embarked on its first major summer amphitheater tour since 2019 and compiled several covers on the EP Scattered, Smothered and Covered. In 2026, the single “Hey There Sunshine” kicked off a new era with MCA. Produced by Karen Fairchild and Gena Johnson, the band’s twelfth album It’s a Dying Art is released on August 28 and features guest appearances by Ashley Monroe, Jason Isbell, and Kelsea Ballerini.
