Little Barrie

Sponsored by big names in British rock such as Edwyn Collins and Primal Scream, this Nottingham-hailing trio made a name for itself in the UK in 2005 with We Are Little Barrie. After Stand Your Ground (2008), Barrie Cadogan's little band confirmed the solidity of their soulful rock with King of the Waves in 2012. Featuring guitarist and vocalist Barrie Cadogan, bassist Lewis Wharton, and late drummer Virgil Howe (son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe), Little Barrie's vintage soul and surf is steeped in rock influences, earning them a loyal cult following. Little Barrie gained wider recognition with their 2005 debut album We Are Little Barrie, produced by Edwyn Collins. Their later releases, such as King of the Waves (2011) and Shadow (2014), further refined their style—combining sharp guitar riffs with infectious rhythms. The band's track “Better Call Saul” became globally known as the theme for the hit TV series of the same name, showcasing their cinematic edge. Despite the tragic loss of Virgil Howe in 2017, Little Barrie remains a powerful force in the underground rock scene, revered for their tight musicianship, vintage tone, and unshakable DIY ethos. They have since released several collaborative albums, such as 2024's Instafuzz with Ultrasonic Grand Prix and Shawn Lee and 2025's Electric War with drummer Malcolm Catto.
