Born in Stokke, Norway, on February 8, 1987, soprano singer Lise Davidsen took her first singing and guitar lessons at the age of fifteen. Noted for her vocal abilities, she continued her musical studies at the Grieg Academy of Music in Bergen, where she studied with Bettina Smith and Hilde Haraldsen Sveen, graduating in 2010. Her career as an opera singer has since been shaped by concert appearances with the Norwegian Soloists' Choir. Enrolled at the Copenhagen Opera School, she perfected her timbre with teacher Susanna Eken and made her operatic debut in the Royal Danish Opera's 2012-2013 season. Graduating with a Master's degree in 2014, Lise Davidsen went on to win a number of awards, including the Operalia First Prize and Audience Award in London (2015) and the Young Artist of the Year award from British magazine Gramophone (2018). In 2017, she made her debut at Glyndebourne Opera in the title role of Richard Strauss'sAriadne auf Naxos, followed by appearances at the BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall. After collaborations with the Vienna Opera and the Royal Opera House in London, she was appointed artist-in-residence at the Bergen Philharmonic during the 2017-2018 season. Her first recording, devoted to the melodies of composer John Frandsen(Songs), was released in 2015 on the DaCapo label. The following year, she took part in the recital As Dreams by the Norwegian Soloists Choir. Her international revelation came in 2019 with the release of her first album exclusively for the Decca label, featuring the Four Lieder, Op. 27, the Four Last Lieder by Richard Strauss and two arias from Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser, awarded a Diapason d'or de l'année.
