American rapper Lil Tecca was born Tyler Sharpe in Queens, New York and began rapping at the age of nine. He self-published several tracks on video streaming channels, gaining a large following with songs like 'Rags to Riches' (2018), 'Love Me' (2018), 'Molly Girl' (2019) and 'Did It Again' (2019). He was propelled to international attention at the age of just 16 with his track 'Ran$om' (2019) which was an overnight sensation online, reaching millions of views and streams in the first few days of its release. It reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Videographer and editor Cole Bennett directed and recorded the music video for the song which also helped to increase its popularity.
