Tyler Sharpe, also known as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper of Jamaican origin, born in New York City on August 26, 2002. Hailing from the Queens neighbourhood, he grew up in Long Island, and initially pursued a basketball career before favouring rap, which he had been a dedicated listener of since childhood. Collaborating with Lil Gummybear, on "Tectri," Lil Tecca independently released a series of five singles in 2018. The following year, he achieved success with the track "Ran$om," peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, attracting over a billion streams online. In August 2019, Lil Tecca’s debut mixtape We Love You Tecca, climbed to number 4 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. A year later, his studio album Virgo World went to number 10 and included features from artists like Nav, Skrillex, Polo G, Lil Durk, Lil Uzi Vert, and Internet Money. Other collaborators like Lil Yachty, Iann Dior, and Chief Keef contributed to his second studio album, We Love You Tecca 2 (2021), from which tracks like "Never Left" and the duet "Repeat It" with Gunna gained considerable traction, seeing the album chart worldwide, including in Australia, Canada, Norway and the UK. Several more tracks followed over the next two years, including "500 lbs" (2023), which reached the 24th position on the rap charts. His third record Tec was released in October 2023, and shot straight to number 11 on the Top 200 album charts in the U.S.
