Quebec folk group formed in 1968 in the Saguenay / Lac St-Jean region (Canada), consisting of Claude Lafrance and Michel McLean. They began their career playing shows in their native region, then moved to Quebec City to tour the boîtes à chansons. They then moved to Montreal, where they met Robert Charlebois, who hired them to accompany him on stage for a few months. In 1971, the duo released their first album, Au Chant de l'Alouette. The title track, a song from the traditional Quebec repertoire, was a big hit on Quebec radio. The following year, they released their second album, Karrik II, on which five songs reached the radio charts, including " Dans la prison de Londres ". Les Karrik split up in the fall of 1972 at the end of a Canadian tour to embark on personal projects. In 1993, they released a compilation album, Rétrospective, featuring the 20 best songs from their four-year career between 1968 and 1972.
