Born together in 1993, Lucie Lebrun, Elisa Paris and Juliette Saumagne, aka L.E.J, are a group of friends from Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis). In the summer of 2015, to brighten up their vacation in Lacanau, they released a clip that, to everyone's surprise, created a sensation and garnered nearly five million views in just a few weeks. The medley, entitled "Summer 2015", is a mash-up of current hits sung and played on cello and snare drum, featuring tracks by Kendji Girac, Stromae, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. The phenomenon, relayed on the Internet, crosses borders and even inspires an article published in Time magazine. December saw the release of En Attendant l'Album, featuring ten tracks revisited in the trio's own style, plus the previously unreleased "La Dalle". 2016 is devoted to the live scene, with concerts at all the major festivals (Printemps de Bourges, Main Square Festival...), four nights at the Olympia in Paris and dates abroad (Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Canada), notably in the United States where the trio performs at the South by Southwest festival in Austin (Texas). Collaborations with Ibrahim Maalouf at the Cannes Festival and Grand Corps Malade on his album Il Nous Restera Ça (2016) precede the new medley "Summer 2016", released in August, with beat-boxer Dave Crowe. December sees the release of the Christmas Hors d'Oeuvre EP, featuring a video for the track "Game of Bells" . In February 2017, L.E.J won a Victoire de la musique award in the "stage revelation" category. Another tour followed before returning to the studio to record a second album of original compositions. Announced by the first single "La Nuit", whose video was directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, the album entitled Poupées Russes was released in June 2018, after another appearance at the Printemps de Bourges festival. That same year, following the French team's victory in the Football World Cup, L.E.J released the track "Liberté, égalité", which he rhymed with the name of player Kylian Mbappé. The following year, in addition to the traditional summer medley, the trio unveiled the track "Pas l'time". Two more tracks appeared before the May 2020 release of their third album, Pas Peur, featuring contributions from Bigflo & Oli, Youssoupha, Fakear and Chilla. The trio collaborates with Boulevard des Airs on a new version of "Emmène-moi" (2020), followed by the mashups Summer 2020 and Summer 2021, then Mashup 80s in 2023, with video directed by video artist Rémi Gaillard. After the Summer 2023 and Summer 2024 episodes, L.E.J. worked on a new album, S'Aimer C'Est Une Galère. Released in October 2025, this No. 91 album includes collaborations with rappers Nemir and Chilla.
