Lee Fields

Lee Fields is something of a forgotten soulman and funk legend. Always in the shadow of the great James Brown, so much so that he was nicknamed "Little J. B.", the North Carolina native (born in Wilson, North Carolina, in 1950) has nevertheless enjoyed a prolific career since 1969. In four decades, he has released albums on a dozen different labels and has sung and played with Kool & The Gang, Sammy Gordon and Litlle Royal. He made it to the top of the charts with Martin Solveig's "Jealousy" in 2005. After the release of his debut album Let's Talk It Over (1979), Lee Fields went through a long period in the wilderness before releasing several legendary albums, such as Let's Get a Groove On (1999). He then joined the Truth & Soul stable and made his mark with Problems (2009), followed by Faithful Man (2012) and Emma Jean (2014, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys), accompanied by The Expressions. Two years later, theunsung hero of soul returns with a new album celebrated by all: Special Night.
