Laurent Mignard is a French jazz trumpeter, composer, and conductor born on June 12, 1965, in Bellot. He studied management before pursuing music in 1989. Mignard studied under David Angel and released the studio recording Face à face in 1998. He established the Pocket Quartet and released the recordings Suites (2002) and Alter tropicus (2004), the latter receiving the Révélation Jazz à Juan award. In 2003, he founded the Duke Orchestra to perform the Duke Ellington Sacred Concert. The ensemble released the recording Duke Ellington is alive in 2009, which received the Grand Prix du Hot Club de France. Mignard conceived the Battle Royal concert at the Jazz à Vienne festival in 2011, commemorating the collaboration between Duke Ellington and Count Basie. His later work included the project Duke Ladies, which released two volumes between 2021 and 2022. He served as the president of the Maison du Duke association.
