Laguna Pai

Laguna Pai formed in Lima, Peru, in 2008 and built its early profile around a roots-reggae core shaped by reggae-rock dynamics and local influences. The band’s classic lineup was led by Mariano Palacios (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) alongside Salo Langberg (lead guitar), Telmo Jáuregui (bass), Daniel Vigo/“Willerius” (drums), Gabriela Bonifaz (backing vocals), and Robert Merath (keyboards/synths), with a longer list of former members credited across different periods. After developing a steady live following on Peru’s festival circuit, Laguna Pai released its debut album Kultura Babylon in 2010 and began breaking into wider Peruvian rotation; the title track “Kultura Babylon” later appeared on Radio Doble Nueve’s annual ranking. The group expanded its catalog with Atento (2013) and Resiliencia (2015), a run that cemented its identity as a socially conscious reggae act, and it revisited that material through the dub-focused set Resiliencia Dubs (2017). By 2018, Laguna Pai had reached major international stages with an appearance at Rototom Sunsplash and continued to strengthen its release schedule with the EP Impulso (2020). In the 2020s the band stayed active through a mix of projects and singles, including the Eterno EP (2022), Entre Sueños y Raíces (2023), and collaborations and standalone tracks released through 2024–2025 such as “Ni Tan Tan,” “Mi Gente,” and “Kinkín,” later included in their 2026 LP Visiones, released in late January.
