Ladaniva, a French-Armenian world music band, was formed in 2019 in Lille. The group consists of Jaklin Baghdasaryan, born in 1997 in Yeghegnadzor, Armenia, who grew up in Minsk, Belarus, before moving to France with her mother in 2014 and Louis Thomas, a multi-instrumentalist from Lille. Baghdasaryan, who began singing at an early age, studied at the Conservatoire de Lille, where she later met Thomas, a jazz musician also trained at the conservatory; their collaboration started after a chance encounter during a jam session in 2018. Ladaniva released their debut EP Ladaniva in 2020, followed by âPourquoi tâas fait ça ?â as a single in 2021. The group gained attention with âKef Chiliniâ. In 2023, Ladaniva released their first full-length album Ladaniva, produced and distributed by PIAS. They represented Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, with the song âJakoâ, qualifying for the final and placing eighth with 183 points.
