La Bottine souriante

La Bottine Souriante, a traditional folk music group from Quebec, Canada, was formed in 1976 by André Marchand, Yves Lambert, and Mario Forest. The group gained traction through performances across North America and Europe, capitalizing on youth interest in traditional music. In 1980, Guy Bouchard joined as a second violoneux, and in 1984, Bernard Simard replaced Gilles Cantin on guitar and vocals. By 1991, the band expanded its sound with a brass section including Laflèche Doré on trumpet and Robert "Bob" Ellis on trombone bass. Notable albums include Cordial (2001), Appellation d'Origine Controlee (2012), and Domino (2023). La Bottine Souriante has received three Juno Awards and multiple Félix Awards, including the Félix de l’Album de l’année – Traditionnel at the 2024 Gala de l’ADISQ for their album Domino.
