At the age of eight, the German-Kurdish rapper Kurdo comes to Germany from Iraq. He was born Kurdo Jalal Omar Abdel Kader on November 30, 1988 in Sulaymaniyah. Kurdo became known through social media in 2011. Rapper Haftbefehl then signed him to his label Azzlackz. However, Kurdo's first mixtape 11ta Stock Sound is released by Beefhaus, as he has already parted ways with Azzlackz. His mixtape reaches number 4 in the German newcomer charts. The track "Nike Kappe umgekehrt" also develops into a success. In 2014, the debut album Slum Dog Millionaer is released, featuring musicians such as Kontra K, Mosh36, KC Rebell, Nazar and Eko Fresh. The album reaches number 6 in the German charts. In the same year, Kurdo launches his own label Almaz, on which he releases his second album Almaz in 2015. The longplayer becomes a number 1 hit in Switzerland and climbs into the top 3 in Germany. Kurdo first receives a gold record and later even goes platinum for his single "Ya Salam" from the album Criminals in the Desert. This was followed in 2017 by the two albums Vision with the tracks "Stalin" and "Made in Germany" and Blanco with the songs "Paranoia" and "Maserati". Kurdo reached number 2 in the German charts with the album 11ta Stock Sound 2, released in 2019. In 2022, the album Miserabel is released, a top 20 hit in Germany and Switzerland. Another album, Kristall, follows two years later. In November 2025, Kurdo releases another studio album, Layla wa layla.
