Kris R

Kristian Rangel Betancur—known professionally as Kris R.—is an American-Colombian rapper, singer, and composer born in New York City on February 12, 2001, and raised in Medellín, where he began his urban music journey at age 15 with his debut single "El Rey de los Cielos" in 2016. Early on, he earned attention through critical collaborations with artists such as Jon Z, Ñengo Flow, Jowell & Randy, Rauw Alejandro (notably on "Desnuda" in 2019), Jamby El Favo, Anonimus, and Neo Pistea. Kris R. rose as a central figure in Trap de Medallo, breaking through with electrifying tracks like "Sople," "Las Piponas," "TRAPPHONE," "EL EXORCISTA," and "POLOS OPUESTOS," the latter earning RIAA certification. In 2024, he joined forces with J Balvin on "Sornero," a visual tribute to Medellín’s neighborhoods and tram line, further heightening his profile. That same year, he toured the United States alongside Ryan Castro and Blessd, followed by a headlining 25-date Colombian tour in 2025. In August 2025, Kris R. unveiled his emotionally charged album Una Valija en Sentimiento, featuring collaborations with Almighty and Hades66 on "Otros Planes," Dei V. on "Muñeca de Urba," Blessd on "Cositas," and Ryan Castro on "Más Chimba." At the start of 2026, he opened a new phase with "GANAS," a single highlighted by Billboard Colombia as his first release of the year and one that arrived alongside his first Premio Lo Nuestro nomination, in the category for Best Trap/Hip Hop Song – Urbano, for his part in "YOGURCITO REMIX." As the year continued, he kept expanding his collaboration network with appearances on tracks such as "Tranquilo (Remix Oficial)" with Louis BPM, Farruko, J Balvin and iZaak, and "Pico Y Chao (W Sound 08)" with W Sound and Ovy On The Drums, the latter earning a Hot Shot Debut mention from Billboard Colombia in March 2026. That same month he released EL TRAP DE KOLOMBIA, his next full-length project after Una Valija en Sentimiento, presented by Billboard Colombia as an album featuring guests including Myke Towers and ROA.
