Kongos, a South African-American alternative rock band based in Austin, Texas, was formed in 2003 by four brothers: Dylan Kongos, Johnny Kongos, Jesse Kongos, and Daniel Kongos. The group spent their childhoods in East London, South Africa, and later attended Arizona State University. Their debut self-titled album Kongos was released in 2007. In 2012, the band released their second album Lunatic, which featured the singles "I'm Only Joking" and "Come With Me Now". The latter gained significant traction, topping South African charts and receiving extensive airplay on local radio stations. In late October 2013, Lunatic was self-released in the United States, leading to notable exposure for "Come With Me Now" on American television commercials and radio. This success culminated in a deal with Epic Records in January 2014, resulting in the re-release of Lunatic. The song "Come With Me Now" became certified Platinum by the RIAA, signifying over one million copies sold. In March 2016, Kongos announced their third album Egomaniac, which included the singles "Take It from Me" and "I Don't Mind". The band continued to release music with 1929, Pt. 1 in January 2019 and 1929, Pt. 2 in October 2019. Kongos' music has been featured in various media, including the film The Expendables 3, the video game Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and the television series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.
