Knifeplay

Knifeplay, an American shoegaze band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was formed in 2017 as a solo project by TJ Strohmer. The group initially released two EPs, No Funeral (2017) and With U (2018), before expanding to a full band lineup, though their lineup has evolved over time, with members including TJ Strohmer on vocals and guitar, Alex Stackhouse on bass, Max Black on piano and synth, Johnny Klein on lead guitar, Johanna Baumann on guitar and vocals, and Joey Ginaldi on drums. Their debut album, Pearlty, was released in 2019 through Window Sill Records. In August 2022, Knifeplay signed with Topshelf Records, announcing their second full-length album, Animal Drowning. The album received positive reviews and included the single "Promise". Knifeplay has also been recognized as a Band to Watch by Stereogum.
