Kinobe

Kinobe is a British electronic music group founded in west London in 1998 by childhood friends Mark Blackburn and Julius Waters, both born in England in the mid‑1970s; Blackburn served as producer and Waters as vocalist and instrumentalist. The group’s breakthrough came with the single "Slip Into Something More Comfortable", released in 1999, which sampled Engelbert Humperdinck’s "From Here to Eternity" and attracted attention during the late‑1990s chill‑out boom alongside Lemon Jelly, Bonobo and Bent; the track was later reissued in 2016 with remixes by Psychemagik, Stephen Hague, Shibumi and Enginearz. Kinobe’s debut album, Soundphiles, was issued on 1 July 2003 under the Zomba label, followed by Wide Open on 27 January 2004. In 2004, Mark Blackburn departed and was replaced by Dave Pemberton, with Chuck Norman taking over for the 2017 releases. After an eight‑year hiatus, the group returned with the Firebird EP on 12 May 2017, then Thought It Was You EP in July 2017, featuring collaborations with Rich Hale and Lucy Chapman; the album Golden Age was released on 31 August 2018, followed by the instrumental Golden Dubs on 18 October 2019. Over the Horizon arrived on 4 August 2023 under SGKL.
