King Cream Soda, a Japanese music unit formed in 2014, is best known for their involvement in the popular anime series Yokai Watch. The band was created to perform the theme song for the series, debuting with "Gera Gera Po" on April 30, 2014. This track achieved significant commercial success, reaching number 4 on the Oricon charts, bolstered by the anime's popularity. The unit, whose name is derived from various iconic rock bands, initially performed anonymously under the Yokai Watch project moniker before revealing their identity. They also performed at the prestigious NHK Red and White Song Battle in 2014 and 2015, showcasing "Gera Gera Po". Despite a change in the lineup in 2017, with Maiko exiting and Sayaka Komuro joining as the new female vocalist, the band continued to perform, marking their change with a revised name, King Cream Soda., which included a period at the end to signify the new era. Their involvement with Yokai Watch resumed in 2021 when Maiko rejoined the group for new theme songs, restoring their original name without the period. The group’s commitment to their craft was highlighted in 2022 when they participated in LIVE EMPOWER CHILDREN 2022, a charity event for children with cancer, marking their first stage appearance in four years.
