Kim Seungjoo

Kim Seung-joo (born August 26, 1998) is a South Korean singer-songwriter known for his emotive lyrics and distinctive band-oriented folk-rock sound. Raised in Korea, Kim developed a passion for music during middle school, teaching himself to write songs and compose on the acoustic guitar. In 2018, he entered Howon University’s Department of Applied Music, majoring in Singer-Songwriter studies. He made his official debut on June 30, 2020, with the single "Sea Sea Sea". That same year, Kim appeared on Mnet’s Focus: Folk Us, impressing the judges during singing “Iguana" by Gangsane and advancing to the first round. His growing talent was recognized in November 2021 when he won the grand prize at the prestigious 32nd Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest. Kim’s discography reflects steady artistic growth, including EPs Shonen Manga vol. 0.1 (2023) and KOSHIEN (2024), as well as singles like "Catch" (2023) and "exchange – student" (2025). His 2024 EP Shonen Manga vol. 0.2 further expanded his musical world. Actively performing at festivals and live events, Kim continues to evolve as an artist. As of April 2025, he is preparing a new album, promising to deepen his signature fusion of indie rock and folk-inspired melodies.
