Kim Mitchell

Joseph Kim Mitchell was born on 10 July 1952 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and became a singer and guitarist. After playing in local bands, he co‑founded Max Webster, where he served as lead vocalist and guitarist until the group disbanded in 1982. Joseph Kim Mitchell’s solo debut arrived that same year with the self‑titled EP Kim Mitchell, followed by the single "Miss Demeanor" in 1982. His breakthrough came with the 1984 single "Go For Soda", which peaked at Number 86 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and achieved top twenty status in Canada. The album Akimbo Alogo (1984) contained the hit "Lager And Ale", while the 1986 release Shakin' Like A Human Being produced the Canadian chart‑topper "Patio Lanterns", solidifying his solo reputation. Subsequent albums Rockland (1989), Aural Fixations (1992), Itch (1994), and Kimosabe (1999) expanded his catalog, and the 2007 studio effort Ain't Life Amazing added to his discography. Joseph Kim Mitchell earned Juno Awards in 1983 for Most Promising Male Vocalist and in 1987 for Album of the Year with Shakin' Like A Human Being. He was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020, with the ceremony held in 2021.
