Influenced by the trailblazing Memphis rap of his birthplace as much as '00s trap figureheads like Gucci Mane, Markeyvius LaShun Cathey (born on August 3, 1997 in Memphis, Tennessee) is known professionally as US rapper and songwriter Key Glock. Following a tumultuous childhood, he was signed to his late cousin Young Dolph's label Paper Route Empire in 2017 and gained respect for his talked-about debut mixtape, Glock Season. In 2019, he released a collaborative album with Young Dolph, Dum and Dummer, which climbed to Number 8 on the Billboard 200. Key Glock dropped his own debut studio album, Yellow Tape, through Paper Route Empire, with production from Bandplay, LDG Beats, Sledgren, among others, in January 2020 and the LP went to Numer 14 on the Billboard 200. Simultaneously churning out a string of mixtapes, including 2020's Son of a Gun, Key Glock unleashed his second studio album, Yellow Tape 2, in 2021, along with a second collaborative album with Young Dolph, Dum and Dummer 2. On November 17, 2021, Key Glock's cousin Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee.
