Kevin de Oliveira Zanoni, popularly known as MC Kevin O Chris, is a singer-songwriter and rapper from Rio de Janeiro. Born on December 5, 1996, in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, he is one of the most recognizable exponents of the Brazilian funk carioca genre, particularly as a pivotal figure of the 150 BPM styleâa faster-paced iteration of the traditional funk rhythm. His career began in earnest in 2014 when he performed as a DJ at local parties under the moniker "DJ Kevin." Partnered with DJ Davizinho, they humorously adopted the nicknames Kevin O Chris and Davizinho O Greg, respectively, inspired by the characters from the TV show Everybody Hates Chris, owing to their uncanny resemblance. 2018 marked a meteoric rise for the Rio native, emerging as a force within the funk 150 BPM subgenre and becoming synonymous with the iconic Baile da Gaiola parties from Complexo da Penha. His track "Dentro do Carro," released in late 2018, gained attention with its inventive use of "Day Tripper" by The Beatles as a sample. However, it was "Vamos pra Gaiola," a tribute to Baile da Gaiola, that truly catapulted him to national fame. Featuring DJ FP from Trem Bala, the song soared to the pinnacle of Brazil's streaming charts in February 2019 and eventually earned triple-platinum certification. Over the following years, several songs by MC Kevin O Chris entered the Brazilian Top 100, including "Romance Proibido" (2020) with Ferrugem, "Saudade Né" (2021) with Dilsinho, and "Incendeia" (2022). "Faz um Vuk Vuk (Teto Espelhado)," a collaboration with DJ Nk da Serra, came out in 2023 and quickly accumulated dozens of millions of streams across platforms. Across 2024 he continued dropping standalone tracks such as âSarra na Glockâ (feat. Gbzin), âSensacionalâ (with koc), and âSegura a Fera,â reinforcing his lane of short, chant-ready records designed for baile rotation. In 2025, he widened his pop-facing collaborations without abandoning funkâs core swing, most notably with âBate Voltaâ alongside DJ TOPO and LuÃsa Sonza, and he also documented a more concert-driven side through the live albums Eu Sou o Rio, Vol. 1 (Ao Vivo) and Eu Sou o Rio, Vol. 2 (Ao Vivo), while experimenting with more collaborative packaging on projects like VoltMix - EP (with KOC). Entering 2026, he kept the pace with singles including âBiquini Cavadinhoâ (with MC Vitinho Avassalador and DJ CZ) and âARROCHA FAZ UM VUK VUKâ (with Mc Vuk Vuk), plus additional baile-ready drops like âSapequinha.â
