KDD

KDD, a French rap group from Toulouse, Haute-Garonne, was formed in 1994 by Dadppda (later known as Dadoo), Diesel, H2O, Lindsay, and Robert. The group's name stands for Kartel Double Détente or Kappa Double Delta. KDD signed their first contract with Columbia in 1994, marking the beginning of their music career. Their debut album, Opté Pour Le K, was released on January 6, 1996, and featured the hit single "Big Bang KDD", which gained national radio play across France. The song drew inspiration from Alliance Ethnik and sampled Curtis Mayfield's "Tripping Out". In 1998, KDD released their second album, Résurrection, known for its darker themes and realistic portrayal of street life. Notable tracks include "Une princesse est morte", a tribute to Betty Shabbaz, the wife of Malcolm X, which featured a loop from Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance March No.1". The album included collaborations with artists such as Don Choa, Le Rat Luciano, Driver, and Joana Varela. Their third album, Une Couleur De Plus Au Drapeau, was released on January 10, 2000, continuing the group's exploration of darker themes and social commentary. Notable tracks include "Qui tu es ?" and "Neuf mois", which addressed issues such as police brutality and the emotional impact of abortion. Following their final album, KDD disbanded in 2003. Members pursued solo projects: Dadoo released a solo project called D and The Zepp in November 2009, while Diesel ventured into music production in New York.
