Kavka Shishido

Yuna Shishido, born 23 June 1985 in Mexico, is a Japanese singer and drummer who performs under the stage name Kavka Shishido. After early exposure to drumming while living in Argentina, she joined the all‑female band The News as their third drummer in 2004, later forming the group Eddy12 with collaborators from The High‑Lows and Uverworld. In 2012, she debuted as a solo artist with the digital single "Day Dream Rider" under Imperial Records, followed by the physical singles "Wagamama" / "Miss. Miss Me" in 2014. Her debut studio album Kavkanize was released 4 September 2013, and she embarked on her first Japanese tour the same year. In 2015, after signing with the newly created Justa Music, she issued the EP K5 (Kの累乗), featuring the single "Don’t Be Love" with Kazuyoshi Saito, which served as the theme for the Fuji TV drama Isha‑tachi no Ren'ai Jijō. Subsequent albums トリドリ (27 April 2016) and DOUBLE TONE (25 July 2018) expanded her catalog, while the EP DO_S (22 February 2017) added further depth. Throughout her career, Kavka Shishido has maintained a dual role as drummer and vocalist, toured extensively, and collaborated with prominent musicians, solidifying her presence in the Japanese pop‑rock scene.
