Kashmere Stage Band was an elite performing unit of the student band at Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas. Formed by music teacher Conrad O. Johnson, the group gained a reputation for exceptional performances and won national championships. Under Johnson's direction, they released eight albums, including Our Thing (1969), Thunder Soul (1971), and Expo. '75 - Concert Tour Japan / Okinawa (1974). In February 2008, thirty original members of the Kashmere Stage Band reunited for the first time in more than three decades to honor their longtime leader, Conrad "Prof" Johnson, then aged 92. The story of Prof, the music program he established, and the reunion of his former students was documented in the feature-length film Thunder Soul, narrated by Jamie Foxx, released in theaters in 2011.
