Karol G

Carolina Giraldo Navarro (February 14, 1991), aka Karol G, is an award-winning Colombian singer-songwriter of reggaeton and Latin music who appeared on the American television talent show The X Factor as a child and went on to have hit singles on the Billboard charts and win the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2018. Born in Medellin, she studied music at the University of Antioquia before moving to New York. The single “Casi Nada” reached Number 8 on Billboard's Tropical Songs Chart in 2016 and “Hello” with Ozuna went to Number 28 in 2017. Her debut album Unstoppable (2017) peaked at Number 2 on the Latin Rhythm Albums and the Top Latin Albums charts. She has had three Number 1 singles on Billboard's Latin Rhythm Airplay Chart: “Mi Cama” (2018) with J Balvin featuring Nicky Jam, “Calypso” (2018) with Luis Fonsi and Stefflon Don, and “Créeme” (2019) with Maluma. She has also collaborated with Ozuna, Annuel AA and Bad Bunny. Produced by Ovy on the Drums, Andrés Torres, and Mauricio Rengifo, her sophomore effort Ocean saw the light in 2019 and hit Number 2 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. It also broke into the Top 100 in Spain and on the Billboard 200. Preceded by the platinum-selling smash hit “Tusa"—which was named Favorite Song – Latin at the American Music Awards in 2020—a third album titled KG0516 arrived in 2021 and included guest spots by Nicki Minaj, Camilo, Nathy Peluso, Anuel AA, J Balvin, Ozuna, and Ivy Queen. The LP cemented Karol G’s reputation as a heavyweight in the urban pop music scene and even made its way to the European charts with the single “El Makinon,” which reached Number 25 in Spain. Karol G dropped her fourth album Mañana Será Bonito in February 2023, which packed in hit collaborations with Shakira ("TQG"), Amargura, ("Mientras Me Curo del Cora") and others and became the first all-Spanish language LP by a female artist to top the US Billboard 200. A companion piece to the album called Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) followed in August 2023.
