Born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in Medellin, Colombia, on February 14, 1991, Latin trap and reggaeton singer Karol G first came to prominence on TV talent show The X-Factor, before continuing her studies and heading for New York to devote herself to her musical career. It was with the duet "Amor de Dos", recorded in 2013 with Puerto Rican singer Nicky Jam, that she became a household name in her native country. She followed this up with a string of singles, sometimes again in duet with artists such as Andy Rivera, CNCO, Ozuna, Sebastián Yatra or Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny or Quavo, and only released her first opus, Unstoppable, in 2017. In 2018, she collaborated with J Balvin on the remix of "Mi Cama " and Shaggy on "Tu Pum Pum", and followed this up in 2019 with the album Ocean. The third chapter of his discography, KG0516, was released in 2021, and was notable for the success of several singles in the international and especially Colombian charts: "Bichota" (no. 2), "Location" with Anuel AA and J Balvin (no. 9), and "El Makinon" with Mariah Angeliq (no. 51). 2023 saw the release of the mixtape Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season), the follow-up to the album Mañana Será Bonito (no. 1) released a few months earlier. Featuring ten tracks and appearances by artists such as Peso Pluma, Chris MJ, Ryan Castro, Kali Uchis, Dei V, Young Miko and Tiësto, the mixtape peaked at No. 77 in Canada, but went on to reach No. 1 in the Spanish charts and No. 3 in the U.S., where it also reached No. 1 in the specialized Latin music charts. Her fifth album, Tropicoqueta, was released on June 20, 2025, a sonic journey flirting with merengue, bachata, cumbia and even flamenco, supported by the singles "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido" (June 2024) and "Latina Foreva " (May 2025), the latter celebrating Latin American pride alongside guitarist José del Tomate.
