Karla Bonoff

Karla Bonoff, born on December 27, 1951, in the United States of America, is an American musician known for her work as a singer and songwriter. Bonoff began her career singing backup vocals for Linda Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman before releasing her debut album Karla Bonoff in 1977. Bonoff's breakthrough came when several of her compositions were recorded by notable artists. Linda Ronstadt covered three tracks from Bonoff’s repertoire on her 1976 album Hasten Down the Wind, including "Someone To Lay Down Beside Me", "Lose Again" and "If He's Ever Near". Other artists who recorded Karla Bonoff's songs include Bonnie Raitt, who covered "Home"; Wynonna Judd with "Tell Me Why"; and Lynn Anderson with "Isn't It Always Love". In 1982, Bonoff achieved chart success with her own recording of "Personally", which peaked at Number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Her subsequent albums include Restless Nights (1979), Wild Heart Of The Young (1982). Bonoff also contributed to film soundtracks, recording "Somebody's Eyes" for Footloose in 1984 and "Standing Right Next To Me" for 8 Seconds in 1994. Her first live album was released in September 2007.
