Juan Pablo Vega, born on September 26, 1985, in Bogotá, Colombia, grew up immersed in music and began crafting his artistic voice early—initially sharing demos that caught the attention of acclaimed producer Julio Reyes Copello, leading to a six-year mentorship culminating in his debut solo album Nada Personal (2013), featuring the heartfelt duet “Nada Personal” with Catalina García of Monsieur Periné and earning him a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. In 2016, he released the EP Vicio, including a standout collaboration with Mariel Mariel, followed by the atmospheric Las Olas (2017). After signing with Warner Music Mexico, Vega launched Conexión in 2019, an EP produced under the major-label banner that included a notable cross-genre collaboration with Oh’laville on “En el mar.” His self-titled second studio album Juan Pablo Vega arrived in 2021, featuring a series of genre-spanning tracks like “Eso que me das” with Esteman, “Dembow,” “Apagar la Luz,” “Joderlo Todo,” “Ojos Tristes” with Karin B, and the collaborations “Dejarnos Ir” with Vanessa Zamora, “Prófugos” with Mabiland, and “Matando” with Vic Mirallas—further solidifying his versatile sound. In 2023, Vega released the reflective album Despídeme de Todxs, and in 2024 he celebrated the ten-year milestone of Nada Personal with a special anniversary edition, underscoring his evolution from indie troubadour to respected singer-songwriter, producer, and Latin pop innovator.
