Jones & Stephenson

Frank Sels, born in Belgium, and Axel Stephenson formed the electronic duo Jones & Stephenson in the early 1990s, with Frank Sels also performing under the alias Franky Jones. Their first release, "The First Rebirth" (1993) on Bonzai Records, marked a breakthrough, quickly becoming a hard‑trance classic and peaking at number two on the Flemish charts during a 2002 re‑release. The duo followed with "The Second Rebirth" (1994) and the double single "The Third Rebirth"/"The Fourth Rebirth" (1995), consolidating their presence on the Belgian club scene. In 1996 they issued the EP Da Grooveinaltrancentalphunk, their sole album‑length project, while their tracks appeared on over 150 compilations, notably through Bonzai Records. Though the group remained modestly productive, "The First Rebirth" earned enduring recognition, being ranked second by HardcorePower Radio in 2013 and sampled by Modeselektor in 2007. The duo has since ceased releasing new material, leaving a concise yet influential legacy in hard‑trance history.
