Jokia

A rising star in gospel and Christian R&B, Jokia was born in Compton, near Los Angeles, on June 26, 1988. Named Jokia Williams, she began singing and writing her own songs at the age of twelve, performing for the army troops where she worked after studying in San Diego. Stationed in Iraq, she learned to play guitar and left the army to sing about her faith. Settling in Texas, she performed at the Shiloh Worship Center in Belton while studying psychology at university, before taking up music full-time. After several tracks including "Amen" since 2016 and the Not Forgotten EP (2017), Jokia was revealed in 2021 with the hit "Yahweh", produced by Jesua "Teddy P" Williams. Over the following years, she racked up other chart-topping hits in gospel or Christian R&B, such as "Let Him In" (2022), "Rise " (2024) and "Brand New" (2025). In 2024, she released two EPs within a month of each other, The Love R&B and The Love Gospel.
