Joseph Kuo, known professionally as Jojo Kuo, born on August 23, 1959, in Bonandjo, Douala, Cameroon, is a Cameroonian artist and drummer. He began his musical journey at 15, leaving home to pursue music with friends. His first public performance was with Eboa Lotin. Kuo joined KASTON FIRE, a popular orchestra in Cameroon. In 1981, he moved to France and collaborated with artists like Pierre Akendengué and Manu Dibango. He later emigrated to the United States in 1994, settling in New York City. Kuo became known for his work at venues like Joe's Pub and Zinc Bar, collaborating with international artists including Peter Gabriel, Fela Kuti, Richard Bona, and Harry Belafonte. His contributions were pivotal in popularizing African music in New York's vibrant scene. One of his notable achievements includes working on Mory Kanté's hit "Yéké Yéké", which reached Number 1 on the Billboard Pan-European Chart in July 1988.
