John Núñez, born on February 11, 1996, in New York City to Dominican parents, is an American singer-songwriter who trained in classical music from childhood, joining the Metropolitan Opera childrenâs choir at age nine before shifting toward Latin pop, tropical, and bachata. After signing with Premium Latin Music, distributed by Sony, he introduced himself with âWith or Without Youâ in 2014 and quickly followed with âOne More Nightâ and âSolo Quiero.â His self-titled debut album, Johnny Sky, arrived in 2015 and established his profile with songs such as âQuiéreme,â âEn Todo Fuiste la Mejor,â and âLa Estrategiaâ; that cycle brought him a Billboard Tropical Airplay Number 1 for âQuiéreme,â a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album, and additional nominations at Premios Juventud, Premio Lo Nuestro, and Premios Soberano. After a quieter stretch, he resumed releasing music with âOnly Youâ in 2022, then opened a new run of singles with âCall On Meâ and âDime Cómo Se Sienteâ in 2023, followed by âDimeâ and âFlying Soloâ in 2024. In 2025, he stayed active with âRewind,â âMe Dejaste Sin Nada,â âShowtime,â âLa Culpa,â â30 Minutos,â and âDesconocidos.â In 2026, he added âNo Soy Opciónâ and reached a new career milestone by representing the Dominican Republic at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, where his performance of âCall On Meâ earned him the Silver Seagull for Best Performer.
