John Mayer Trio

John Mayer Trio, formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005, is an American blues rock group composed of guitarist and vocalist John Mayer, bassist Pino Palladino, and drummer Steve Jordan. The trio emerged from a spontaneous collaboration during a telethon, leading to a chemistry that prompted the official formation. Their breakthrough came with the live album Try! released on 22 November 2005, which featured tracks such as “Good Love Is On The Way”, “Vultures”, and “Try”, co-written by Mayer, Jordan, and Palladino. The album was produced by John Mayer and Steve Jordan and received a Gold certification from the RIAA. In October 2005, the group opened for The Rolling Stones on select dates of the A Bigger Bang Tour, receiving mixed reviews that highlighted Mayer’s guitar work. Subsequent appearances included performances on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (4 June 2009), Late Night with Seth Meyers (27 February 2014), and the Crossroads Guitar Festival (June 2010). In 2016, the trio contributed to John Mayer’s studio album The Search for Everything, although the project was released solely under Mayer’s name. The group’s activity has been intermittent, with reunions primarily for special events and televised appearances.
