John Densmore

Initially studying piano between the ages of 10 and 12, he abandoned it in favor of drums. Influenced by jazz, he joined the Doors in 1965. One of his strengths was his ability to keep the tempo despite the changes Jim Morrison could impose, making each concert a unique event. Once the Doors had split up, he and Robby Krieger formed the Butts Band. The band released two albums in 1974, but both were flops. He then turned to film and television(Beverly 90210, Coach, Square Pegs). In 1990, he published his autobiography Riders On The Storm, my life with Jim Morrison and The Doors, which quickly became a bestseller.
